The numerous keeps scattered throughout Fastheld are centers of power and influence for the Noble Houses. Usually, Keeps were erected as defensive structures from whence a Noble House could mount defense of a nearby township. As a Noble's seat of rule, they draw all the staff that Nobles need - from servants to scribes and artisans to Ducal Guards. Many are reknowned for their unusual form, while others are known for their unique function.
